“Bonnie,” an 18-year-old from Newton, Kansas, died in Wichita in August of 1924. Her death was attributed to an abortion perpetrated by Dr. Charles C. Keester.
The same month that Bonnie died, Keester was implicated in the abortion death of 19-year-old Loren Franklin. In late 1921 he had been implicated in a fatal abortion perpetrated on Mrs. Virgil Rector. He was also implicated in the March, 1922 abortion death of Hattie Myers and the December, 1923 abortion death of Hazel Hadicke. He would be convicted in the 1930 abortion death of Rena Armstrong.
