H. W. Case

H. W. CaseabortionistsmaleIn mid-March, 1913, 25-year-old homemaker Mary Brubaker, nee Howe, died in her Chicago home from an abortion perpetrated that day by Dr. Henry W. Case. Case was held by the Coroner and indicted by a Grand Jury in April, but the case never went to trial.

This might be because exculpatory evidence came up, or because there was not enough evidence to secure a conviction, or even because of corruption.

Case was born in 1865 in Scranton, PA, and died at age 78 in 1943, in Chicago.
