Webber was arrested, along with Walter Biesse, but they were released. Webber was indicted by a Grand Jury in June, and released on $10,000 bond, but the case never went to trial.
On August 9, 1927, Irene Campbell died in the Chicago office of Dr. Herman Webber from an abortion performed there that day. She was a 33-year-old homemaker.
Webber had been born Hermann Johann Weichbrodt in Germany May 6, 1882. He moved to the US in 1908 and became a citizen in 1923.
