In January of 1919, 26-year-old Wanda Skrzypzak died at Chicago’s St. Elizabeth’s Hospital from an abortion perpetrated by Dr. Michael Rozumskiand Dr. John P. Wojtalewicz. They were held by the Coroner for intentional manslaughter by abortion, and were indicted in February, but the case never went to trial. Wojtalewicz was free to continue to practice medicine. There were allegations of police corruption associated with the case.
Wojtalewicz was born July 5, 1890 in Illinois to Polish immigrants. He married Victoria A Treider on April 28, 1920.
