Lori Roe

Lori Roeteens, maryland, 1970s, preroelegal, infectionSUMMARY: “Lori,” age 17, died in 1970 from a legal abortion performed at a hospital in Maryland.

“Lori” Roe is one of the women Life Dynamics notes on their “Blackmun Wall” of women killed by legalized abortion.

Lori was 17 years old and 16 weeks pregnant when she was admitted to a Maryland hospital for a saline abortion between July and December of 1970. At the time, Maryland allowed abortions, with some restrictions, to be performed in hospitals.

A saline abortion was performed by injecting strong salt solution into the amniotic fluid. The fetus would inhale and swallow the fluid, causing massive internal bleeding and death. The woman would then go into labor.

After the abortion, Lori developed sepsis and died.
