Life Dynamics lists Malorie on their “Blackmun Wall” of women killed by safe and legal abortion.
Malorie was 35 years old and 20 weeks pregnant when she sought an abortion in 1974.
Saline was injected into Malorie’s uterus for the abortion. She strong salt solution would poison the fetus, killing it. The death of the fetus would trigger labor.
After Malorie had expelled the fetus, she suffered a fatal pulmonary embolism.
As you can see from the graph below, abortion deaths were falling dramatically before legalization. This steep fall had been in place for decades. To argue that legalization lowered abortion mortality simply isn’t supported by the data.
