In late November or early December of 1921, Mrs. Virgil Rector underwent an abortion in Wichita, Kansas. Her husband implicated Dr. Charles C. Keester. Both Keester and Virgil were charged, on the grounds that Virgil had been the one to insist on the abortion.
Mrs. Rector was only the first abortion attributed to Dr. Keester. The others I know of are:
- Hattie Myers, age 19, died March, 1922
- Hazel Hadicke, age 19, December, 1923
- Loren Franklin, age 19, August, 1924
- “Bonnie,” age 18, August, 1924,
- Rena Armstrong, age 17, February, 1930
