On July 14, 1921, 23-year-old Mrs. Edna Rohner died at Illinois Masonic Hospital in Chicago from an abortion reportedly perpetrated by Dr. Otto Klimmek. He was held by the coroner and tried, but acquitted on June 12, 1923. Because the source documents offer only scanty information, it’s not clear what the evidence was against him or why he was acquitted.
Klimmek was born in Germany around 1873 and died in Chicago on August 15, 1923 at the age of 50.
