Pamela Roe30s, 1970s, ruptures, prostaglandin, ruptureSUMMARY: “Pamela,” age 38, died around 1974 from abortion complications.
Pamela is one of the women Life Dynamics identifies on their “Blackmun Wall” as having been killed by a legal abortion. She died sometime between 1972 and 1975.
Aged 38, Pamela had one previous live birth and two previous abortions or miscarriages before this pregnancy. At 24 weeks into the pregnancy, Pamela developed high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia. Her doctor prescribed abortion. She was given a dose of prostaglandin to induce labor in order to expel the fetus which, if all went according to plan, would die during the process by the intensity of the artificially-triggered contractions.
During the delivery of the fetus, Pamela‘s blood pressure spiked, causing ruptured blood vessels in her head. She died from these injuries.
As you can see from the graph below, abortion deaths were falling dramatically before legalization. This steep fall had been in place for decades. To argue that legalization lowered abortion mortality simply isn’t supported by the data.
