Boguszewski and midwife Julia Statkiewz were arrested Oct. 2 of 1915 after a South Chicago coroner’s jury concluded that Mrs. Julia Lawynowicz had died from the work of abortionists. Boguszewski, “who is wealthy and active in Polish circles,” lived in “the Palace” in the Polish section of Chicago.
According to his draft registration card, Boguszewski was born Stanislaus Boguszewski Mar. 21, 1875 in Russia. According to U.S. naturalization records, he came to the United States on Apr. 29, 1901 via New York, but expatriated himself to Poland on Sept. 18, 1930.
