Some time between August of 1977 and the end of 1978, "Fatima" went to two different freestanding abortion clinics, both of which told her that her pregnancy was too far advanced for a suction abortion.

Fatima didn't have enough money to finance a second-trimester abortion, so she tried to do a self-induced abortion by means that the source does not indicate.

Doctors performed a hysterectomy, to no avail. Ten days after the hysterectomy, Fatima died from a pulmonary embolism.
